The FUNDAMENTALS OF ALGAE is designed for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Botany, Agriculture, Life Sciences, Forestry, Biotechnology and several other related fields. It covers almost all different aspects of phycology in 33 chapters devoted to various fields of this fascinating field of Botany in most effective manner. It has been written in simple language in a style which a teacher usually follows for teaching his students in the classroom. The concepts of Algae in this book have been explained with the help of 270+ well-labelled diagrams prepared with the help of best-available artists of the country and 16 electron micrographs supplied by top phycologists of USA, UK and Germany specially for this book. The book is, therefore, profusely illustrated and thus has a rich pedagogy. It gives exhaustive and chapterwise coverage of almost all General Topics of Algae in its 33 chapters. Its 5 chapters cover practical aspects of phycology. It also includes (i) 16 Tables of Comparison in its different chapters, (ii) 17 illustrated life-cycles of selected algal genera, (iii) 275 chapter-end review questions covering all chapters (with their answers at the end of the book in Appendix 1), (iv) A detailed Table of Comparison of principal characteristics of all algal classes in Appendix 2, and (v) few more general topics (e.g. Soil Algae, Symbiotic Algae, and Genetics of Algae) in a separate Appendix 3 in its later part.
